November 12 is the date set by Borough Council for the auction of the Chambers Street firehouse. With the firefighters having left the fire station and moved to the new Witherspoon Street firehouse. the circa-1930s brick building is currently being readied for inspection by potential bidders. No minimum or maximum bids have been established, but the Borough will retain the right to reject all bids. The firehouse is being sold “as-is,” and the purchaser will be responsible for obtaining all necessary zoning variances.

Firefighters were called to the home of Susan Dailey of 16 Deer Path. Princeton. Thursday after-noon after receiving a report of an explosion there.

The explosion turned out to be a malfunctioning heater, according to Fire Inspector Joe Meyers. Mr. Meyers said the owner called the police when she “heard a big bang and saw smoke coming out of the furnace room door.”

There was no damage to the house, and PSE&G was called to repair the heater, he said.
