Firemen’s day makes a big hit

To the editor:
The Historical Society of Princeton congratulates the volunteer fire companies of Princeton on the occasion of the celebration of their 200th anniversary. Saturday, May 14, was a magnificent parade of fire engines, firemen and auxiliaries, marching bands, ancient cars, unicycles, scouts, Dalmatian dogs, clowns and sundry others instilled in us a sense of pride, wonder and admiration. The commemorative events combined history, pageantry, and small town warmth. Thank you for reminding us so vividly of the contributions made by volunteer fire companies to so many generations of Princetonians.
