Richard H. Wood, 74, died Monday at Helene Fuld Medical Center, Trenton.

Born M Princeton, Mr. Wood was a lifelong resident. He retired from 010 Princeton Regional Bomb of Education in 1979 after 43 years of teaching. At the time of his retirement, he was chairman of the Indus-that Arts Department.

He was a member for 49 years of the Mercer Engine Co. No. 3 of the Princeton Fire Department. He had served as president of that company, and had served as chief of Princeton Fire Department in 1967. He also was a member of the Princeton Carpenters Union Local No. 781 for 40 years.

He was a former coach of Princeton High School football team for 35 years and was head coach 12 of those years.

Husband of the late Mary C. Wood, he O survived by four sons, Richard H. Wood Jr. of Metuchen, Alan T. Wood of Cranbury, James C. Wood of West Amwell and Thomas J. Wood of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Karen Liberato of Belleville and Margaret C. Wood of Princeton; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral will be held today, Friday, at 11 a.m. from the Mather-Hodge .Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton. The Rt. John Mark Goons. pastor of the Latheron. Church of the Messiah, will officiate. Interment will he in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Princeton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Princeton….
