VACANT HOME LEVELED

By Fire. An abandoned home, identified by Township police as the old Larsen home, was completely destroyed by fire last week.
A general alarm was sounded at 11:34 Friday night after police were called by a area resident. The home sat back in woods off Autumn Hill Lane which runs off Autumn Hill Road. It is owned by the
Larsen estate.

Police Chief Anthony Pinelli reported that the fire is still under investigation. “We don’t know how it started,” he said.

Chief Pinelli added that a family member from Indiana had been at the home trying to get some personal belongings. “She had taken a heater with her but we don’t know if the heater caused the fire or not.”

Chief Pinelli said that Township officials had given notice to the owners that the house had to be razed.

The chimney may have been the cause of a fire last Wednesday evening at the home of Edgar Buttenheim, 437 Ridgeview Road.

When Township police arrived, only smoke was coming from the fireplace. They called for fire trucks, however, and 15 firemen responded when they discovered that fire had started to burn the mantel and timbers around the fireplace. Damage from the 11:20 fire was confined to wooden trim around the fireplace, police said.
