A fire was reported in former Gov. Richard Hughes’ residence on Westcott Road last Thursday morning. Equipment was cal led to the scene at 3:19 a.m. when Pat Murphy, who was staying at the house, reported a fire in the kitchen, in the vicinity of the electric stove. Windows were broken by firefighters to release smoke, but damage was minor, according to police, and the fire was contained in the kitchen. No injuries were reported.
