TREES SET ON FIRE

Discarded for Pickup. Two Christmas trees placed outside for pickup were set on fire last week in the Borough.

One, set outside a Moore Street home, was torched, causing cardboard boxes placed next to it to ignite. The fire was extinguished by the homeowner, police said.

A second tree, put out for pickup behind the rear of a building facing the Park Street lot, was found burning by police at 2:58 Sunday morning. It was almost totally burned but caused no damage, police said.

A Christmas tree outside the Fox and Lazo building at 166 Nassau St. was set on fire by vandals at 3 a.m. Sunday, police said. The blaze was put out by a fireman.
